Paper III. Direct and Indirect Taxes (level of knowledge – working knowledge)
(A) Income Tax Act,1961 (40 Marks)
- Basic concepts and definitions.
- Basis of charges, rates applicable for different types of assesses.
- Concept of previous year and assessment year.
- Residential status and scope of total income, income received / deemed to be received / accrued or arisen / deemed to accrue or arise in India.
- Heads of income and computation of income from salary & income from business.

(B) Goods & Services Tax Act (60 Marks)

- Tax Structure – Basic Rates and Special Rates.

Note:- Any amendment introduced under the above Acts or Rules during the period up to 31st March of the previous financial year or 6 months before the date of examination, whichever is earlier, shall be applicable.
Paper IV. Electricity Act, Kerala Electricity Supply Code, Regulations & PWD Code (Level of knowledge – basic)

Note: (1) Rule 2(13) of Part I and Rule 10(a)ii of Part II of KS & SSR are applicable.
(2) In addition to the qualifications prescribed in this notification, the qualifications recognized by Executive Orders or Standing Orders of Government as equivalent to a qualification specified for a post in the Special Rules or found acceptable by the Commission in cases where acceptance of equivalent qualifications is provided for in the rules and such of those qualification which pre–suppose the acquisition of the lower qualification prescribed for the post, shall also be sufficient for the post. The copy of the Government orders declaring equivalent / higher qualifications shall be produced as and when required by the Commission.
